GETTING STARTED welcome to neverland
1) Make sure that your display name includes the first and last name in uppercase after you register (i.e. JOHN DOE). You will not be accepted until you do this.
2) No images should stretch the board! If they do, an admin will PM you and tell you to change it. We can also make graphics for you if you ask, so there's no excuse for not having images that are the proper size.
3) Mary Sues and Gary Stus are prohibited. We would like well-rounded, balanced characters. No one is perfect, even in roleplay. Besides, roleplaying a perfect character gets pretty boring.
5) Flesh out and establish one character before you go to make another. It's awesome that you have ideas for another character on the site, but everyone must keep all their characters active. There is no character limit.
6) Activity is a biggy. Stay active with all your characters and try to log into your accounts every day. We understand if you are too busy to get on, but if you believe you are going to be gone for an extended period of time, post in the Leave of Absence board. It always sucks when a member just disappears and is nowhere to be found.
7) If you have any questions, ask an admin. We don't mind it, and we'd much rather you come to us than make a mistake that could have easily been avoided.
ROLEPLAYING i wanna feel weightless
1) There is a 250 WORD MINIMUM for this site. It's not very hard to hit that if you write enough description (setting, feelings, etc). This is to prevent one-liners from occurring, because they are very hard to reply to.
2) This should go without saying, but please use proper grammar/spelling. You can find spell-checks on Microsoft Word or the internet through Google. Of course, we all make mistakes, that's to be expected. Constant, gratuitous errors are not okay.
3) Keep it appropriate. Proboards is PG-13, which means don't write anything you wouldn't want your mama to see. Graphic descriptions of sex, drugs, and violence are prohibited. If you're wondering if something is appropriate or not, fade to black just to be safe. If the admins find anything we deem inappropriate in any of your posts, we will summarily delete it.
4) No POWER-PLAYING OR GOD MODDING. You may not take control of anyone's characters without permission. If an admin finds you are doing this, we will contact you about it. This is simply a matter of common courtesy and respect for the person you are role-playing with. This includes abusing the powers of your character. If you play them stronger than they should be, we will take action.
OUT OF CHARACTER i feel like dancing
1) Respect. Plain and simple. In the chatbox or anywhere else on the site, play nice. A role-playing community is like a family. No one should have to feel unwelcome or unwanted. This means there should be no fighting, no flaming, or anything else that may cause drama. We want a friendly environment, and respect is needed for that.
2) Do not steal! It's a law in real life, and so it is a law in roleplay. This means graphics, characters, anything that doesn't belong to you. Just like in real life, there are consequences here for stealing.
3) The chatbox must follow the Proboards TOS as well, so that means keep it appropriate! And please, be friendly to everyone! No one likes to be ignored. Even if you're shy, pop in and say hello. The admins don't bite, and we'd love to talk to you.
4) That said, try not to exclude others from the chatbox by being too cliquey or spamming things when no one is responding. It can turn potential members away from the site and will not be appreciated by the admins. Spamming can even earn you a ban from the chat if you aren't careful. Don't complain of boredom or whine about a lack of posts, either, because there's always open threads to be made. Complaining of boredom sends the message to guests that we are a boring site!
5) HAVE FUN! That's what roleplaying is about, so enjoy yourself!
